Lathrop is a city located in San Joaquin County, in the northern portion of the California Central Valley. Located south of Stockton at the intersection of Interstate 5 and State Route 120. The approximate population of Lathrop
in 2017 was 18,000.

Lathrop was put on the map when the railroad was extended there. A post office was established in Lathrop in 1871. Four months after the railheads of the transcontinental railroad met at Promontory, Utah, in September 1869, with the completion of the San Joaquin River Bridge located at the Mossdale crossing of the San Joaquin River at Lathrop. Was when the west coast link of the transcontinental railroad was actually completed.

Lathrop also has several of the most popular fast food restaurants like McDonald's, Jack in the Box, Taco Bell, Denny's, Carl's Jr., Siena Italian restaurant, multiple Subway restaurants, Little Caesars, Mountain Mike's, Yan Yan Deli, Popeye's Chicken, Quiznos, La Hacienda Taqueria, Burger King, A&W, KFC, China Wok, Amici Sushi, Cafe Platano, Mikasa Japanese Bistro, Baskin Robins, and Milan's Pizza.
